Have you noticed how much wages have gone down lately? The times are so different from right around 1999 to 2000 when the employers were competing for the workers. Wages were high for the average Joe. Not anymore. Now when the stock market goes down by 200, it is really noticeable. When the market was 12,000, a 200 point drop was less than 2%. Now it is almost 2.5% So what is your long-term plan? Do you have a plan to pay for your kids college education and take a few extra holidays? Or do you feel that you may never be able to retire?
Could this be why so many people are looking for a work at home business? Some means by which to supplement their retirement? Homes are beginning to be seen as the place to earn a living without the problems faced daily by millions who have to commute. They have a vision of lazing around all day, doing the occasional menial task and raking in thousands although most who try it certainly wish it were that easy! If you think that this is a relaxed, comfortable option, think again as it usually means you have to work twice as hard to get established in your own work at home business. Many approach this like a job without security. You can make it a success and be totally independent only if you slog and are disciplined. But it is hard when you come home from a hard day at work and then need to put in hours at your home business.
Yes, it would be really nice if the road was paved with gold - just go out and pick up some of it and cash it in. Most of us are hoping to find a way to make quick easy money, and those who look at ways to earn in a work at home business are often initially drawn to these kinds of ‘get rich quick’ offers. Yes, there may just be some that work but not as much as the promises that they make. Both data entry and paid surveys promise you the earth but you’ll find that what you earn is far short of the claims that are made. The very thought of completing a couple of surveys during the day and earning a few hundreds like this is a joke - data entry will not make you rich. These kinds of activities are simply not sustainable for anyone seeking a way to earn money in any home based business opportunity on a regular and dependable basis. Not all are scams, although many scams are present and anyone wishing to do this must be vigilant and careful. Writing some articles for others is a very easy way that you can earn money even though you are going to have to possess some reasonable writing skills. And you can take a class to hone your skills or try to teach yourself.
There are a lot of different things you can do. Someone once said that they wanted to get into a crowded profession just to show that it doesn’t matter - it is the person’s performance on the job that matters. The fact is, it doesn’t matter what you do because it all requires a consistent effort for anything worthwhile in my opinion. Just talk to any successful writer and they will tell you of the long hours involved and the years of dedication in most instances to publish their first book. Success requires sacrifice and there is a price to pay for that freedom of working at home. So if you are not a slacker and are really ready to work, then a work at home business could be the perfect thing for you.
